UMass is hosting a Junior Day today.
The recruiting event will give the new Minutemen staff the opportunity to showcase its product to dozens of its top prospects from multiple classes.
It’ll also serve as an opportunity for those prospects and their families to get a better feel for the UMass coaches and vice versa.
As the Minutemen continue to work at a blazing pace to build those relationships, we know they’ve been busy evaluating tons of film and some of today’s visitors could leave campus with scholarship offers.
UMass is expected to host prospects in the 2026, 2027, and 2027 classes.
We have confirmed that one of the most promising youngsters in the state has now made it to campus.
Owen DeSalvo from Buckingham Browne & Nichols School is just a freshman, but he has already been identified by the Minutemen as one of the very best prospects in the entire state.
“That’s the guy,” one source told Minuteman Command this week. “I’m telling you, that’s the guy.
“This kid's special, this kid's special. He's going to be a player.”
DeSalvo possesses the physical tools to play running back at the next level, but some people in Amherst believe he has an unreal upside at defensive back.
“He's natural with the ball in his hand,” the source continued. “He's physical, he's tough and he's a freshman in one of the better leagues in Boston and the plays that he was making were impressive.
“He's the type of kid you watch his film and you immediately stand up out of your seat. I can't wait to track his development and see where he goes.”
UMass gets the chance to host him today.
This is a big deal.
