2025 OL Garrett Cooper Talks UMass Commitment
2025 Delaware offensive lineman Garrett Cooper committed to the Minutemen on his official visit.
It’s safe to say Garrett Cooper enjoyed his trip to UMass this past weekend.
“I didn't want to leave after my official visit, it was so good,” the 2025 Delaware offensive lineman told Minuteman Command.
So, he did the next best thing.
Cooper gave head coach Joe Harasymiak, offensive line coach Kurt Anderson and the Minutemen his verbal commitment before he left campus, securing his spot to come back to Amherst for good.
“I really like Coach Anderson,” the 6-foot-6, 280-pounder told Minuteman Command. “Everything that he said to me made sense; just the way that he worded things. The offensive linemen who have been with him in the past have done great things; five first-round draft picks, so he definitely knows what he's doing.
“Also, he feels like a coach, but at the same time, more of almost like a father and a friend.”
Harasymiak also made a strong impression on the Delmar High School standout.
“I really like him,” Cooper said of Harasymiak. “Young head coach, really energetic. I think that's perfect for the program. I think that's what it needed.”
Knowing that he was wanted by both Anderson and Harasymiak, given their respective backgrounds, was big for Cooper.
“It was pretty awesome,” Cooper said. “It was great.”
Cooper wasn’t the only visitor who didn’t want to leave last weekend. Along with Cooper, the Minutemen landed commitments from fellow offensive lineman Gavin Wilson, receiver Elijah Pedro and running back Elijah Faulkner.
“It was awesome,” said Cooper. “I'm glad they did, especially Gavin Wilson, the offensive lineman who also committed with me. We're really good friends now.”
Cooper is looking forward to getting back to UMass for good.
“I'm really excited.”
